Assets under management (AUM) of mutual fund industry plunge by 10.25% to Rs 5,05,152 crore by March end compared with Rs 5,62,820 crore at the end of February. Of the 33 mutual funds only Birla Sun life Mutual Fund registered a rise in AUM at the end of March over February and rest 31 showed a decline compared with February. The fall in AUM is attributed by the sell of equities in benchmark indices, which continue its trend of giving negative returns. AUM of fund of funds (FoFs) was Rs 3,786.71 crore by March end. The top three funds witnessing a fall in the AUM included Benchmark Mutual Fund (32.99%) in their AUM. There were 17 fund houses with AUM above Rs 10,000 crore. 16 of them had a net outflow by March end DBS Chola Mutual Fund (25.06%) and Lotus India Mutual Fund (18.83%). Net outflow in Mutual Funds is Rs 29,204 crore.
